Introduction

The Confederation of Tanzania Industries through its technical energy services has designed, developed and is implementing energy efficiency programme/projects to suit the needs of industrial, institutional and commercial consumers. The project emanates from the fact that energy has for a quite long time now been one of the challenges the manufacturers continue to face.

It has been characterised by being both unreliable and expensive. So, any solution aiming at addressing the challenges are more than welcome by the manufacturers because increased energy costs and unreliable power supply is an increasing burden and one of the major concerns for businesses in Tanzania. The Confederation of Tanzania Industries therefore, through its technical energy services has come up with this programme to help industries reduce cost and enhance competitiveness and profitability while promoting a clean and healthy environment.

CTI offers several initiatives to support the manufacturing sector in reducing their energy consumption and thereby their production costs. It is CTI’s ambition to help members from identification of needs, energy audits stage up to the actual implementation of measures for reduced energy consumption.

Main components of CTI’s assistance:

Advisory services:
Members can call or set up a meeting with CTI’s Energy Efficiency Coordinator who will guide them on the different options available for working with Energy Efficiency.

Energy Audits:
In cooperation with the Royal Danish Embassy, CTI offers manufacturing companies in Tanzania access to energy audits. Energy audit can help reveal areas where members’ company can make savings.
