Energy Audit

Is the key to systematic approach for decision-making in the area of energy management. For that matter, the governments of Tanzania and Denmark agreed to initiate the Energy Efficient Programme to reduce the use of energy in the manufacturing sector. CTI is the host partner for the program and is responsible for implementing the initiative under the CIT/DI Twinning Program.

The objective of the progamme is to reduce the amount of energy consumption in the manufacturing sector in order to enhance competitiveness and reduce adverse environmental effects. The energy audit is a useful tool to achieve this objective. The audit is a thorough monitoring, analysis of the use of energy and submission of technical report containing recommendations, cost benefit analysis and action plan to reduce energy consumption. In general an energy audit gives adequate knowledge of the existing energy consumption profile, identifies factors affecting the energy consumption and it brings up cost-effective energy saving opportunities.

How to qualify for an audit:
Criteria for undertaking the audits in this phase include any manufacturing enterprises in Tanzania, a dully filled audit application form, and a dully filled energy usage data sheet for the recent two years, commitment and cooperation of enterprise with the audit team. In implementing the programme, CTI will encounter almost all the energy audit costs (i.e. 85%) while the client will only pay for the difference (15%) of the total audit costs. CTI has employed the energy efficiency coordinator to coordinate all energy activities for the betterment of the clients.

Energy Audit Cost:
The Energy Audit Costs will be borne by CTI but the CTI members will be requested to contribute 15% as administration cost. Determination of the total Audit cost will be based on the baseline information provided by the company. Tables below summarizes the energy audit costs for both the international energy auditors and local energy auditors.
